Autumn Nurture Yoga workshop

Saturday 16th November
10am-1pm (2pm with optional lunch)

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, autumn is the time of Metal element which represents qualities such as clarity, organization and the ability to let go. It is a time of transition and reflection, helping to prepare for new growth.
The Metal element is associated with our lungs and large intestine. It governs our skin, immune system, breath and also our mind. Metal’s quality is to be able to let go – to strip away what is holding us back and to reveal the unique gifts and talents that are held deep within us.
In this workshop we will:
  • Practice Yoga postures and breathing techniques that help to bring balance to the flow of energy through the lung and large intestine meridians.
  • Learn how to activate acupoints for a healthy respiratory and elimination system
  • Learn energy techniques to strengthen our immune system
We will also have some time to reflect on our own ability to let go, in a sensitive and supportive environment
Weather permitting, we may be able to do some practices outdoors: walking meditation, connection to energy of trees, the earth and the sky.

Workshop venue:

Westmeston Parish Hall is a lovey venue, a village hall between Ditchling and Plumpton, surrounded by trees and fields with the view on the South Downs.
10am -1pm for yoga , we have an option to stay for a shared lunch together till 2pm
(please bring something to share). It will give you an opportunity to connect with other students in our growing yoga community, in an informal way.

Sunday November 25th, 10am-1pm, Dharma School, Brighton

Everything is made of energy. Modern science states that the world is mainly empty space where a combination of forces interact. Ancient civilizations knew this and called some of these invisible forces ‘chi’ or ‘prana’, words that we can translate as ‘energy’.

Yoga is the science of directing the energy in our bodies in a specific way to enhance health, wellbeing and spiritual growth.

In order for us to stay healthy, we need to be able to regulate and balance the flow of energy in our bodies.

Irina will introduce you to some useful techniques that she has learned from Donna Eden (the creator of Energy Medicine), Taoist practices, Qigong and Thai massage. These techniques work well on their own or they can be incorporated into your yoga practice.

Using these techniques can really make a difference, especially during the cold months of the year, when we feel more energy depleted and are prone to illnesses.

In this workshop you will learn

An Energy Balancing routine

How to locate pressure points on your body

How to incorporate energy work into your yoga practice

How to ‘strengthen’ the meridians

An energy routine for autumn/winter

Previous yoga experience is helpful but not necessary.

Cost:  £25 – early bird if paid one week in advance

           £28 – if paid thereafter

Please contact Irina to book your place. Places are limited. Booking in advance is essential.
